Roquetas de Mar is a municipality of Almería province, in the autonomous community of Andalucía, Spain. The 'urbanización' (tourist area with hotels and restaurants and shops) of Roquetas is predominantly a Spanish holiday resort for the majority of the
summer months, but it also receives many visitors from the other countries.
Thanks to the shelter of the Sierra Nevada it is one of the driest, sunniest and warmest places at the Spanish Mediterranean.
Roquetas de Mar is one of the two major resorts in Costa de Almería, the other being Mojácar.
