The convent of San José, better known as Madre Carmelitas, is located on the old road that connects Seville and Huelva, being the main axis of commerce in the city. It was founded in 1580 by Beatriz, the daughter of Don Bartolomé Rodríguez, a member of a powerful family. Being a monastery, very few people have access to its interior, but one of its greatest treasures is on the main door of the monastery and not in a very good state of preservation. It is the magnificent faience of Virgen del Carmen, probably from the sixteenth century. Located on Calle Real.
Hacienda de Benazuza dates back to the tenth century and was built by the Moors before passing into the hands of many, including the Santiago Order. It was also a frequent home of Alfonso El Sabio. At the end of the last century, it was purchased by the family, Pablo Romero, until it was sold in 1990 for his current project in time for the 1992 Expo in Seville. Today, Hacienda Benazuza is a 5-star luxury hotel with a library, an 18th-century church and a 3,000-hectare hunting ground.
