Peniscola is a municipality in the Valencian Community, Spain, located on the north coast of the province of Castellón, in the region of Bajo Maestrazgo.
The city is situated on a rocky peninsula, initially united to the mainland only by a sandy isthmus, which sometimes floods.
Currently, due to the port and construction of buildings on the isthmus, this curiously disappeared.
In the rocky rises an old area of town, of which the castle stands Papa Luna, Peniscola divided into two completely different halves.
Mount dintotalul occupies the southern two-thirds of 81 km ².
