Blanes is located in the southern end of Girona province at the mouth of the river Tordera.

The resort has 4 km of coastal beaches, the most common being S `Abanell and Platja de Blanes.

Blanes resort is a famous destination more relaxed than Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar, the beaches are less crowded. Though the image of the city was affected by tourism development, still retains the historic old fishing village atmosphere, old buildings and cafes.

In the town of Blanes, major tourist attractions are the castle of St. John in the thirteenth century, and some buildings in the Gothic style, dating from the XIV, XV. Other important monuments are the Gothic fountain commissioned by the Count of Prades daughter, raped by Cabrera in the late fourteenth century church of Nuestra Senor Esperanza, Sagrada Imagen del Vilar sanctuary, located 4 km from Blanes and chapel of St. Barbara. In Blanes there are also two botanical gardens - Mar y Murtra (Marimurtra) and Pinya Rosa.

Beaches are facing south-east to the Mediterranean Sea:

1. Treumal beach is located 3.5 km from downtown Blanes, has a length of 75m, sand is more coarse. On the beach 350m from the Cala Santa Cristina is parking and beach facilities are refreshments and ice cream kiosks, renting of articles for the beach.

2. Sant Francesc is situated 2 km from downtown, has parking nearby, the sand is coarse, lumgimea plajii is 200m and its facilities: showers, refreshments and ice cream kiosks, beach rental items and the opportunity to cruise.

3. Blanes has a length of 540m, coarse sand, beach access is via Passeig de Mar (from the cliff) is in the downtown area and its facilities: showers, refreshments and ice cream kiosks, beach rental articles and the opportunity to cruise.

4. S'Abanell is located approximately 300m from the center, the sand is coarse and the beach access is via Passeig de S'Abanell. Beach amenities are: parking, bars, restaurants, toilets, showers, beach rental items, you can practice water sports, cruise ships.
