The municipality has area of Approximately 253.7 km² year, with 28 km of coastline Some. It is 105 km from the provincial capital, Murcia.
Águilas is built on the landward side lower peninsula between two bays, Puerto Poniente, a good port on the south-west, and Puerto Levante, which is somewhat dangerous for shipping in rough weather on the North east .
The city is at the end of a railway from Huércal-Overa.
Adjacent to the island, the mainland is the Playa Amarilla, which is demarcation of coastal residential development La Isla del Fraile.
