About Cantabria - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Cantabria is a region of Spain, located on the north coast. The focal point is the town of Santander region, with 180,000 inhabitants.
Historic province offers diverse attractions, from fishing villages on the coast to the snowy peaks of the Picos de Europa mountain chain.
Cantabria Province is almost untouched by mass tourism currently on the Mediterranean coast, because of unstable weather. But during the summer months the sea is warm enough to take a bath, and the sun shines.
Cantabria was part of old Castile and was a stronghold of conservative, separatist inclination between the neighbors on the coast. Capital Santander is a modern and elegant resort very conventional.
Besides the capital was quiet resorts, the best being Urdinales east Castro, Comillas and San Vicente de Barquera to the west. Having the chance to be the most interesting city in the province, Santanilla del Mar is full of honey-colored villas and tourists.
In the province there are many prehistoric caves, some of which are at Puente Viesgo, near Santander.
