About Costa Del Azahar - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Costa del Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast) stretches between Castellon and Valencia, in part, in Alicante, from the Cabo Alcanar to Nao. The plot shows interesting contrasts this coast relief - vis-a-vis the rib strip that has a mantle of green and orange groves, is a mountainous and wild. The northern provinces of the Autonomous Community of Valencia, Castellon, owns the portion of the coast called Costa del Azahar
Contrasts were formed as a result of the geographical layout. Although the capital is called Castelló de la Plana, in fact the province has more mountainous than the plain regions. Thus, unlike the coastal strip which is equipped with a plain green oranges that are grown (hence the name of the coast, because Azahar means orange blossom), the interior is completely wild. Regions rich in history and monuments that alternate with places where man has never penetrated. They have the same look you had hundreds of years ago when they were visited by men and women from the medieval period.
The region is rich in history and monuments, as well as withdrawn areas that look just like they looked centuries ago. The town is a medieval castle Peniscola, Oropesa has been preserved in a tower defense and Morella is downright charming, with preserved city walls in the fourteenth century. The area can visit the fortress Peniscola, owned in turn by Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans ... virtually all old Mediterranean civilizations. In Christian times, the castle was the headquarters of the Knights Templar, and in 1411 Pope Benedict XIII, to exile in Avignon. You should not miss any of Irta La Sierra, a natural park, located on a length of 15 km along the coast.
Costa del Azahar, consisting of 120 km from the beach, is distinguished by the same Mediterranean climate, mild year-round. Towns most visited include: Vinaroz, Benicarló, Peñíscola, Xivert Alcala, Oropesa del Mar, Torreblanca, Benicassim and Castellón de la Plana.
The climate is more or less what you would expect: a typical Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, warm summers and mild winters.
