The city center is around the bay of Los Cristianos, but is rapidly expanding interior with modern development. The city is a popular tourist resort and includes a ferry.
Unlike its bustling neighbor, Playa de las Americas, this city has a history that precedes the tourist boom of 1970 to 1980. For many years this holiday hub was a quiet fishing village and evidence of its origins humble can be seen in the typical architecture of Canary older buildings.
Nowadays, however, the city offers a holiday experience, with two sandy beaches, plenty of bars and restaurants and year round sunny climate. There is a wealth of accommodation to suit all budgets are including hotels, self-catering apartments and timeshare resorts. There are also a variety of tours around the busy port city focused, including dolphin and whale and fishing trips and cruises party game.
