Located southwest of the capital, Tago River, Toledo is one of the oldest cities in the Iberian peninsula. Conquered by the Romans named Toletum. The capital of the Visigoth kingdom between 554 and 711, was conquered and then ruled for four centuries by the Arabs.
Busy afterwards by King Alfonso VI of Castile, was until 1561 the administrative center of the kingdom. Its strategic importance is overwhelming, which explains the settlement disputarea by numerous people who have arrived in the area.
Besides high between Toledo and Madrid, on top of a hill called El Cerro de los ngeles (Hill Angels), believed to be the geographic center of Spain, a statue of the Saviour Jesus, symbol of Catholic Spain.
True city-monument, Toledo illustrates the current passed through all stages of the old capital of Iberia. Alternates with vestiges of Roman and Gothic churches of medieval walls and fortress ruins of Moorish resistance defies the passing of time.
The city lives under the sign of El Greco, who immortalized many times in his works. Three faiths have come here over time, each leaving behind homes and prayer: the Christian, the Arabic and the Mosaic.
Toledo is also known for the production of steel and particularly swords.
And today the city of Toledo and has retained the charm and the old is a real open air museum and is included on the UNESCO list.
