Vera is a city in the province of Almeria, Andalucia, Spain with a population of about 13,400 inhabitants.
City of Vera is one of the most important cities in the region. Originally called Bari it was located at sea near the town Villaricos. Arabs have moved to town on Espiritu Santo delalul, but a great earthquake destroyed it in 1518. Vera town was built in the sixteenth century. A legend says that Queen Isabel climbed to top of this hill, fired an arrow and ordered that Vera be built where the arrow will fall.
Vera is a prosperous city, with a wide variety of shops selling, with many items made locally atrizanat. On Saturdays there is a surprisingly large market that seems to take over the city. An attraction as strong is the local cuisine, the cuisine can be found in the city's stylish restaurants and bars Vera.
This city offers seven kilometers from the beach (Puerto Rey and El Playazo) with unique features on the Mediterranean coast, internationally recognized for quality and purity of its water and care for the environment and qualified with distinction Blue Flag. Near the coast is also Laguna Puerto Rey, recently declared natural reserve.
