Zamora is a province in Spain, in the autonomous community of Castilla-Leon. It is situated on a rocky hill in north-west, near the border with Portugal and is crossed by the Duero River.
This province is so diverse and interesting enough to require several visits to be fully appreciated.
Worth visiting its historic district which is famous for its monuments, such as the Romanesque church in Nueva Santa María, which dates from the eleventh century, or Cathedral, which is built in Romanesque style, and whose dome has become a symbol of the province of Zamora.
During the 12th century, the city was extremely important strategic position in the wars between the Kingdom of León and the Arabs conquered the Iberian Peninsula. As a result, the city keeps many churches and buildings from that time.
Zamora is the city with most Romanesque churches throughout Europe.
Zamora has a temperate continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. Precipitation is mainly recorded in spring and autumn, summer is characterized by periods of drought.
