Santillana del Mar is a historic town situated in Cantabria, Spain. The city is known for Altamira Caves (Cuevas de Altamira) and historic buildings, attracting thousands of tourists each year.

Santillana del Mar is said that the city is''three''lies, is not no saint (Santo), is neither flat (Llanos) and has no sea (Mar) as the name of the city. However, in fact, the name comes from Santa Juliana, whose remains are kept in the College, a Roman church and the former Benedictine monastery.
