Toledo

Located southwest of the capital, Tago River, Toledo is one of the oldest cities in the Iberian peninsula. Conquered by the Romans named Toletum. The capital of the Visigoth kingdom between 554 and 711, was conquered and then ruled for four centuries by the Arabs.

Busy afterwards by King Alfonso VI of Castile, was until 1561 the administrative center of the kingdom. Its strategic importance is overwhelming, which explains the settlement disputarea by numerous people who have arrived in the area.

Besides high between Toledo and Madrid, on top of a hill called El Cerro de los ngeles (Hill Angels), believed to be the geographic center of Spain, a statue of the Saviour Jesus, symbol of Catholic Spain.
