CITIES IN SPAIN:Madrid is the capital of Spain. Built on the ruins of a Mauerite fortress, the town became capital in 1561, during the reign of Philip II of Habsburg. As a result, Madrid has become a thriving city, and today it is only rivaled by Barcelona. There is also one of the holiday homes of the Spanish royal family, Marivent Palace. It became a tourist destination in 1950, the number of tourists growing substantially in the last half century. A complete tour of the city will necessarily include in its circuitry such as Pueblo Español - an architectural museum conceived as a small town, gathering together mock-ups of the most important works of classical Spanish architecture and major shopping centers - Av. Jaume III and Porto Pi, as well as the commercial ports, Castell de Bellver - built on the ruins of a Muslim site, houses a museum of archeological discoveries and classical sculptures, also having the advantage of a wonderful view of the bay. There are many churches, squares and palaces in town. Ibiza is an island in the Balearic archipelago, located in the west of the Mediterranean, which belongs to Spain. The capital of the island is the city of Ibiza. In the local dialect, the island and its capital are called Eivissa. The island is part of the UNESCO heritage, being noted for biodiversity and culture. It is part of the Balearic archipelago, being the third largest island, and together with its smaller neighbor Formentera forms the group of Pitius Islands or "Pine Islands". It is also called the "White Island" for its architecture. Seville is the fourth largest city in Spain and also the capital and main city of Andalusia and Seville province. It is located in the southwestern part of the Iberian peninsula. Seville is the capital of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and the province of Seville. Seville is also considered the artistic, cultural, financial, economic and social center of southern Spain. Interesting are the many tourist attractions (monuments, parks, gardens, churches, etc.). Among the most famous monuments are Giralda (The Bell of the Cathedral) and Golden Tower. The Triana Quarter is one of Seville's most famous neighborhoods. The cathedral, the Alcazar and the Archivo de Indias in Seville were listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987. Among the main attractions are Santa Cruz, the Ancient Court (Old), Spanish Square, El Salvador Church, the Maddalena Church, Santa Ana Church (in the Triana district), Toros Square (the second corridor in Mexico, the Square of America, the palace of la Dueñas, the house of Pilatos and Alameda de Hercules (Gardens of Hercules). Valencia is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia, Spain. Marbella is one of the most important tourist resorts on the Costa del Sol. A lot of delicious food, non-stop beach parties as well as exciting tourist attractions such as the Bonsai Museum offer a very special experience. Moreover, the peaks of the Sierra Blanca Mountains offer great scenery. What to visit in Spain:
Sagrada Familia is  the first stop. A church in the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona (in northeast Spain) that amazed an entire world. The cathedral, Antoni Gaudi's impressive yet unfinished work - the Holy Family - is one of the most visited monuments of Barcelona. For 43 years, Gaudi added to the original Gothic structure bizarre improvisations and towers like chimneys. Although unfinished, the Sagrada Familia remains the masterpiece of the architect. Neo-Gothic style has been replaced by Gaudi's modernist style, which was based on forms found in nature.
Alhambra is an ensemble of buildings in a fortress that dominates the plains and the city of Granada, in front of a popular and picturesque neighborhood, Albaicin. From here you can see the snowy peaks in Sierra Nevada. Among these buildings is a Moorish palace glorifying this complex, as well as Carol's 5th Baroque palace and a raised church on the site of a former mosque. The palace was built in the XIV century by the Nasr sultans. Alhambra is one of the most important monuments of Islamic architecture. This, along with the Grand Mosque of Cordoba, is the most prestigious evidence of the Muslim presence in Spain from the eighth to the fifteenth centuries. The word Alhambra comes from Al Hamra, "red" in Arabic, due to the color of the rocks on which the palace is built.

El Escorial is a palace, but it seems more than that. It is a monastery, but also a royal residence, has a church, but also a museum. It has a chapel, but also a creepy torture room. It is a monument protected by UNESCO but circumscribes and cultivates a very cold and rigid atmosphere. It is located next to the Spanish capital, Madrid, but it has a somewhat familiar new air, with its Soviet-style architecture. The edifice is located just 45 kilometers from Madrid, at the foot of Mount Abantos in the Sierra de Guadarrama. El Escorial was the political center of the Spanish Empire under the reign of King Philip II. Philip named Juan Bautista de Toledo as an architect in 1559 and together they made El Escorial, a monument that commemorates Spain's role as a center of the Christian world. Currently it is a monastery, a royal palace, a museum and a school.Cuenca, located between Madrid and Valencia, is a magnificent example of a medieval town built in the mountains. The many hanging houses are built directly into the cliff, making Cuenca one of the most fascinating cities in Spain, a gem of Castilla La Mancha.

The Segovia aqueduct is one of the most important monuments preserved from the Roman period on the Iberian Peninsula. Probably built in the 1st century AD, the aqueduct brought water to the Fuenfria spring to the city. The old aqueduct bears water over a distance of 16 kilometers from the River Frío to Segovia and was built of 24,000 massive granite blocks without mortar. He still supplies the city's water, even in the twentieth century. The Royal Palace in Madrid also known as the Palacio de Oriente (Spanish: Palacio Real or Palacio de Oriente) is the official residence of the King of Spain in Madrid and is the only residence of the State Ceremonies. With an area of 135,000 square kilometers and 3418 rooms, it is the largest royal palace in Europe. However, King Juan Carlos and the royal family do not live in it, but in a more modest palace, the Palacio de la Zarzuela, on the edge of Madrid. The site is owned by the Spanish State and administered by Patrimonio Nacional, a public agency of the Ministry of the Presidency. The building is located on Bailén Street, in the west of Madrid, on the eastern side of the Manzanares River, and is accessible from Ópera Metro Station. The palace is partially open to the public unless it is used for official events.

          13.05.2026 Spania
