Nerja is a coastal resort on the Costa del Sol - Spanish sun coast.
Although it is a destination dedicated to coastal tourism, Nerja has retained the look of a traditional locations. The town is located on a hill slope, the center being located in the old part of town that has remained almost nechimbata - narrow streets, wrought-iron
balconies full of flowers and a seventeenth-century church. Otherwise tourist facilities are dominant, but hotels can not exceed a certain level of height.
Nerja is located at the mouth of the river Chillar, hence its name from - in Arabic "narixa" means "abundant spring".
