Torrevieja is a town in the Valencian Community, Spain. It is located in the province of Alicante on the Mediterranean seafront. It has 101,381 inhabitants and is the 5th city of the Valencian Community.
The city covers 71 km ² and has 20 km of shoreline with the following beaches: La Mata, Los Locos, El Cura, El Acequion, Los stranded.
Torrevieja, literally means "old tower" at the beginning of last century there were only guarding the tower a few old houses. Surveillance towers that are scattered up and down the coast, there were Moroccan pirates to see who crossed the Mediterranean Sea
for centuries.
